Our First Year Installing at Lincolnshire's Most Popular Christmas Fair
Burghley Christmas Fair Case Study
The Burghley Christmas Fair is one of Lincolnshire’s busiest and most recognisable seasonal events, and this year was our first time installing across the site.
Taking place in late November, the fair required a cohesive and high-impact festive scheme that would carry through the entrances, marquees, courtyards and mingling areas. Our role was to design and deliver an opulent, warm and foliage-rich Christmas aesthetic that aligned with Burghley’s historic setting while creating a welcoming atmosphere for thousands of visitors. The decorations have been a true attraction in the past, with many coming to see them; so the pressure to withstand this image was on!
The Design and Colour Scheme
The design centred on rich, seasonal tones such as burgundy, copper, deep pine, all paired with a mixture of fresh, seasonal foliage.
Following the trend of 2025, oversized elements like clusters of baubles, giant bows and natural elements were used to add texture, luxe feelings and and even a hint of scent throughout the fair.
The goal was an immersive, festive atmosphere that felt abundant and sophisticated, whilst also incorporating a little ‘wow’ with scale and creativity.
Inside The Shopping Marquee
Pagoda Entrance Arches
The main shopping event at Burghley Christmas Fair can be found inside their vast, open marquees, filled with luxury goods and independent traders.
To entice visitors to visit and spend time in this area, the event has consistently invested in fresh, abundant arches at the entrances. This was one of our largest installations across the site.
With both ends of the marquee within the scope, it meant we were to install two matching arches using the existing pagoda structure.
Each arch was constructed with faux greenery and dressed with layers of fresh pine, spruce, ferns and mixed seasonal foliage. Pine cones, dried orange slices and textural accents such as bows and wooden decorations added warmth and fragrance, framing the entrances and creating that strong first impression for visitors.
Bauble Garlands
Inside the shopping marquee, colour blocked bauble garlands in burgundy and copper carried the colour palette through the interiors. Again, dried orange slices added brightness and scent, while layered greenery created depth. Warm white lighting softened the displayed, producing a cohesive and inviting festive atmosphere.
Luxury 10ft Tree (the marquee showstopper!)
One of our 10ft faux Christmas Trees formed a key focal point at the shopping marquee entrance. It was decorated with foliage garlands for texture and bauble clusters in copper and burgundy for that classic feel, Alongside this, we added individual pine green sprigs for fullness and meticulously placed more of our dried orange slices for lightness. This acted as the most wonderful welcome to the space, and made it undoubtedly festive!
Oversized Wreaths
The showstoppers didn’t end with the tree.
Following from this, each end of the marquee was adorned with an oversized wreath, made from faux greenery, enhanced with gold ferns, berry clusters, warm white lighting and a luxury bow. These totally framed the structures with grandeur, making an otherwise white basic marquee interior feel cosy and creative.
Installations Throughout the Fair
Fresh Wreaths
We didn’t just stop in the marquee, no no!
Each key entrance was adorned with fresh, moss base wreaths. Decorated with seasonal foliage, pine cones, dried orange slices and velvet trailing bows.
Garden Cafe Arch
For The Garden Café, we crafted a wooden frame, wrapped in faux greenery and topped with fresh foliage. An oversized burnt-orange bow spiralled around the structure, with baubles, pinecones, dried oranges, and warm white lighting.
Chestnut Courtyard Trees
Three decorated trees, 8ft, 7ft, and 6ft, were installed in the Chestnut Courtyard, each finished with oversized burgundy velvet bows and warm white lights. Together, they formed a traditional, festive focal point for the courtyard and continued the theme across the event.
Directional Signage
With such an expansive site, signage that was both functional and in-keeping with design was a MUST.
We created three 8ft multi-directional signs, each with five double-sided arrows and bespoke decals.
Photo Opportunities
Despite the entirety of the event being a photo opp… we thought we’d add just one more!
With this, we created a rustic wooden photo backdrop, decorated with foliage bursts, baubles, and warm white lights. It was then paired with two fresh trees in wooden crates, creating a wonderfully festive photo moment.
